People Colonial-era homes damaged in 2010 Chilean earthquake restored, returned to their owners

When a massive earthquake rocked Chile's coastal region of Maule in early 2010, Barrick readily agreed to support the recovery effort. The company helped build temporary emergency houses in the immediate aftermath of the quake, and in the intervening years has contributed $5 million and played an active role in the reconstruction of several schools, an all-purpose sports facility and numerous colonial-era homes.

Six of those homes were returned to their owners at a recent ceremony held in the town of Vichuquén.
