When Australia’s national women’s football team, the Matildas, took to the field at the 2011 women’s football World Cup in Germany, Barrick was a proud supporter of a documentary on two of their players.
The film, No Apologies, tells the story of Kyah Simon and Lydia Williams. In 2010, they became the first two Australian indigenous women to win international football honors when both were part of the Matildas’ victorious 2010 Asia Cup campaign.
Barrick’s Australia Pacific Regional President, Gary Halverson, said employees were keen to recognize the hard work and perseverance of the two players in realizing their dream of representing their country at the World Cup. “This is an important moment in Australian sporting history,” he said.
Updates on the Matildas’ campaign and the documentary project are being posted at noapologiesrequired.com.
