People Help for victims of Australian bushfires

Australians have made an unprecedented effort to support victims of the Victoria bushfires, which claimed the lives of over 200 people, destroyed 1,800 homes and ravaged at least 350,000 hectares of land. Barrick Gold made an immediate contribution of $100,000 to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal fund, set up by the Red Cross to provide assistance to people and communities affected by the devastation. “In this time of national grief, our thoughts remain with the victims of this horrific disaster,” said Gary Halverson, regional president, Barrick Gold Australia Pacific, when he announced the company’s gift.
